About
IPPNJ
History
IPPNJ
began in 1984 with a small group of analysts located mainly in Essex
and Morris Counties. Originally an affiliate of the New York Center
for Psychoanalytic Training, IPPNJ grew rapidly in numbers of both
faculty and student members, and soon developed three centers of
psychoanalytic training and activity throughout New Jersey: one
serving the general area of Essex, Morris, and Union counties; one
in Bergen and Passaic counties; and one for Middlesex, Mercer, Somerset,
Monmouth, and Hunterdon counties -- the last usually referred to
as the "New Brunswick-Princeton area" because of the concentration
of affiliated people around Rutgers and Princeton universities.
In the fall of 1989, IPPNJ became an autonomous and independent
institute.
